Life Cycle of a Butterfly

This week we’re studying the life cycle of a butterfly in homeschool preschool and kindergarten. I’ve also included a FREE Kindergarten Activity Guide printable below.

The best part is, these activities build nerve connections in the brain while supporting cognitive growth, social and language development, fine motor skills, dexterity, and more!

Life Cycle of a Butterfly

All butterflies have “complete metamorphosis.” To grow into an adult, they go through 4 stages: Eggs, Larva, Pupa, and Adult. Each stage has a different goal. For instance, caterpillars need to eat a lot, and adults need to reproduce.

Fun fact: Depending on the type of butterfly, the life cycle of a butterfly may take anywhere from one month to a whole year.
