28 WEEKS PREGNANT

Hello third trimester! Despite being quarantined at home for the last 16 weeks, I’ve safely made it to 28 weeks pregnant. Of course I spent the last trimester preparing for the baby while I had the energy.

As I shared in my original post, pregnancy after molar pregnancy can cause anxiety, and fear. Nevertheless, I’m still holding on to hope and looking forward.

Glucose Screening

At my 28 weeks pregnant appointment, I had a glucose screening. I was given a 10oz. Glucose Tolerance Beverage. The nurse said to set a timer and drink the entire drink in under 5 minutes. Then she said there would be a blood test after a one hour wait.

I drank the entire beverage in under 2 minutes and wrote down the exact time I finished. (There is a 5 minute window before or after the one hour wait to draw the blood.)

Thankfully, a few days later, the gestational diabetes screening came back normal.

28 Weeks Pregnant Ultrasound

According to my doctor, I’m measuring a bit larger than I should for 28 weeks pregnant. Typically, baby is the size of a large eggplant and weighs around 2 1/4lb. However, the ultrasound confirmed he measures just under 3lbs. So instead, he is the size of a large cabbage.

Honestly, I am not surprised because I have already hit that uncomfortable stage. Some days I feel like my belly is going to pop. I know he needs to stay in there until full term at 37 weeks. So 37 weeks is my goal right now.

During the ultrasound, he was head down. He was also practicing his breathing which is fantastic! It was really neat to see his heart beating and his little tummy going up and down in the breathing motion.

COMBATTING HEARTBURN

To combat heartburn, I am still drinking my favorite  Earth Mama Organics Heartburn Tea. The flavor is a soothing mellow mint blend. It contains marshmallow root, lemon balm, chamomile and spearmint, plus astringent raspberry leaf.

Above all, It is formulated for pregnancy and also relieves acid reflux, and indigestion. So thank you heartburn relief!

28 WEEKS PREGNANT CHANGES

A week ago, I suddenly noticed a drop in my energy levels. I am now back to needing a nap every day. I was also told I have mild anemia so I am taking supplemental iron, which helps.

Surprisingly, I have gained 18 of my 25lbs so far. I know they say every pregnancy is different, but it really is. With my daughter, I had a problem eating enough to put on weight. With this baby being a boy, I have a bigger appetite and he’s growing quicker than expected.

Additionally, I noticed my breasts are leaking colostrum. I ordered some Organic Nipple Butter to start applying. After my previous experience with breastfeeding, I’m taking care of my nipples in advance. Cracked nipples are very painful so It’s better to prepare now.
