Now that the weather has warmed up here in Chicago, it’s time for more outdoor fun. What better way to kick off summer than this colorful Oobleck unicorn activity!

Seriously, have you guys tried Oobleck Slime yet? It acts as a solid when you pick it up, then it liquefies instantly.

Science Fact: Oobleck is considered a suspension. This means the substance can mimic the qualities of a liquid or a solid.

We also added acrylic gems, a few cups, and a scoop to this unicorn activity.

Miss 4 played with this unicorn activity for 3 hours! This is a big win in my book.

To make Oobleck to fill a regular size TROFAST bin from IKEA, see the recipe below:

Unicorn Activity Supplies:

  • 2 Cups of Cornstarch
  • 1 Cup Water
  • Food Coloring
  • Unicorns (We found this pink and purple set at Dollar Tree.)
  • Acrylic Gems
  • Cups
  • Scoop

Unicorn Activity INSTRUCTIONS:

1.) First, pour the water into a bowl.

2.) Next, mix 3-4 drops of each purple and pink food coloring into the water. (It will look like a strange dark pink color. Not to worry.)

3.) Then, slowly add the corn starch to the colored water and mix.

  • The Maternal Hobbyist Tip: For easier mixing, carefully swirl the bowl of water and cornstarch together.

4.) Finally, pour the Oobleck into the sensory bin container, and add the unicorns and gems. Add the cups, scoop, and a bin of soapy water to complete this unicorn activity.
